What is polyester POY yarn made of?

Polyester POY (partially oriented yarn) is primarily made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymer chips, which are melted and blended with color masterbatch (for colored yarns) before being spun. These polymer chips are the raw material that provides the yarn with its fundamental chemical and physical properties, such as strength, durability, and color retention.

Our polyester colored POY is produced using advanced high-temperature melt spinning technology, where carefully selected polymer chips are uniformly blended with high-grade color masterbatch to ensure optimal pigment dispersion. This precise control during the extrusion process results in superior color consistency, excellent color fastness, and stable mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation.

The POY yarn we manufacture exhibits uniform filament diameter and minimal defects, making it an excellent base yarn for downstream processing including texturizing, twisting, and drawing. These processes transform the POY into a variety of synthetic yarns—such as DTY and FDY—that are widely used in the production of apparel fabrics, home textiles, industrial textiles, and specialty products.
